Staffordshire County Cup Winners - League Title - League Cup Winners    Stoke Ladies complete memorable treble! STOKE CITY Ladies have completed a magnificent season with a stunning finale at Stafford Rangers They secured their first piece of silverware of the season when they comfortably overcame their reserve side 5-1 in the final of the County Cup at Norton United. That was followed by securing the League Title a week later against Leafield Athletic with three games to spare. It had looked like the title would be a tight affair with Leafield going the first half of the season unbeaten but as it turned out their run in was much tougher including twice having to play Stoke. The tables turned on the 7th March with the first meeting in the League between the two sides away at their Edgbaston Ground. Stoke came away winners in a 6-3 thriller which potentially influenced the mindset of both teams. Less than three weeks later, Leafield came to Stoke knowing that if Stoke took the three points again it would guarantee the title. In a nervy game, Stoke looked the stronger but it took an 89th minute penalty from Chantelle Gallagher to secure the 1-0 win and clinch the Championship. The news of Stoke’s victory was even reported by Sky sports at the start of a much heightened profile in the media. March 27th saw the Ladies invited to parade around the pitch at Stoke City’s Premier League game against Norwich and three players take part in ‘Cos kick a bo’ on the pitch at half time. The ladies, Meg Bowyer, Lou Roberts & Tash Catalano failed to trouble the scorers on this occasion but thankfully Stoke City recorded a precious 1-0 win to take them to the magical 40 points. The Ladies also collected around the ground to raise much needed funds and were delighted when Delia Smith put her hand in her pocket. The ladies also had photos taken with many of the Stoke players and met famous Stoke fan Hairy Potter for the first time - See Photos  The Following Day, Stoke Ladies completed the Treble by winning the League Cup 8-4 against Leafield Athletic with World Cup Final referee Howard Webb officiating. The League presentations followed with Peter Shilton presenting the honours and with Stoke Ladies making it a clean sweep. 2013 - League Cup Final, Player of the Match - Laura Garside 2013 - League Top Scorer - Laura Garside 2013 - League Top Goalkeeper - Alice Langstone 2013 - League Player of the Season - Chantelle Gallagher
