Staffordshire County Cup Kick Off : 19:30Potters retain Staffs County Cup for seventh yearIt's a great achievement to win the trophy again"Andrew FrostSTOKE CITY 4 (Asher 2, Hunt 17, Hyde 82, Lewis own goal 85) FC REEDSWOOD 0 STOKE CITY LADIES retained the Staffordshire FA County Cup trophy for a seventh consecutive year with a 4-0 victory over FC Reedswood last night. Goals from Kate Asher, Abby Hunt and Cassie Hyde - as well as a late own goal - ensured the Potters lifted the silverware once again in a tightly-fought encounter at Brocton FC's Silkmore Lane ground. The triumph gave City a tenth County Cup win in their history in what was also a replay of last year's final. The evening couldn't have got off to a better start either with Asher guiding Jamilla Palmer's cross into the back of the net inside the opening two minutes. Hunt then doubled the advantage with a strike in off the underside of the crossbar before Hyde added a third with a volley when upfield for a corner. A fourth was added late on when former Stoke keeper Justine Lewis failed to deal with Laura Garside's drilled cross into the six yard box, instead spilling it over the line to compound Reedswood's disappointing evening. Stoke manager Andrew Frost was understandably delighted with his side's victory, praising the players for their professionalism throughout the evening. "It's a great achievement to win the trophy again," he said. "We set a target at the start of the season to win the County Cup and it's nice to be able to say we've done it. "I think that there's added pressure on us in the final as we're expected to win and there's a lot of weight on the shoulders of the girls; they dealt with that really well. "We knew that the first ten minutes of the game were crucial and if we could get an early goal it would take the sting out of their tail. "Thankfully we did that and everything then went to plan." CITY: Atherton, Asher (Garside 61), Bowyer, Hunt, Hyde, Hayes (Garner 82), Jones (Thompson 67), Langstone, Palmer, Roberts, Tezgel.
